A group of refugees from Sudan have been worshipping in their native language (Mabaan)on Sunday afternoons in the Sanctuary at Wasatch since 2006. In addition, through the Sudanese Task Force, Wasatch provides additional support to this community, including tutoring in English as Second Language, reading, and mathematics, as well as Sunday school.
In recent years, Wasatch has also provided financial assistance to the community through gift cards at Christmas, school supplies in September, computers for college students, rent or utility bills.
For more information about the Sudanese community or the Sudanese Task Force, please contact Jane Hereim at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have had requests for used laptops and iPads for the Sudanese families so that the students can do homework. If you have one to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.
Other current donation needs are winter coats, hats and gloves of all sizes. You can place your donations in the red shopping cart at the office entrance.
