The youth fall retreat is this weekend! This will be a great time of fun, games, songs and bonding at Camp Tuttle. If your youth wants to go, but you need help with transportation, I will be driving up and am happy to pick up your youth and bring them there and/or back home. Fall Retreat Sign Up
A few parents & youth have requested a traditional youth group midweek gathering. While I don't think it could work every week due to families' busy weekday schedules, I thought we can try it once in fall and once in spring. Dinner will be provided and we will play some silly games and have a short reflection and discussion. Hope your youth can fit this into their busy schedules twice a year! Our first one will be next Wednesday Night, October 10th, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Loft.

SUMMER YOUTH TRIPS:
Yes, it is already that time to start thinking about next summer! The youth committee meets on Thursday and one thing on our agenda is to determine the youth 7th-12th grade summer trip dates. Please email me any dates that you know your youth will not be available this summer.
Additionally, I am gauging the interest level for our youth to attend Triennium, July 16-20, 2019, at Purdue University. Triennium is the Presbyterian Youth Conference for high school age youth (current 8th - 12th graders) which gathers thousands of youth from around the country every three years. There are nightly large group meetings with music, singing and faith talks geared specifically for this age group. Each youth gets assigned a small group which they meet with daily and they also get to choose from an assortment of daytime workshops to attend. I am a big fan of this conference as it connects youth with other youth in the Presbyterian Church USA and they learn and grow in their faith in unique ways. I have known this to be the highlight of some youth's entire high school experience! Please check out their website for more information and then let me know if you might consider having your youth attend!
ANGST Screening: A Film on Teen Anxiety
This Thursday, October 4th, 7:00 p.m. at Olympus HIgh School
Did you know that 60% of teens today could be diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder according to the requirements listed in the DSM-5? If you want to learn more about the causes, effects and what we can do about it, come to this 56 minute documentary screening followed by a Q&A. I have a handful of extra tickets to this film screening, so please let me know if you would like to attend.
The filmmakers' goal is to have a global conversation and raise awareness around anxiety. Angst features candid interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they've learned about it. The film includes discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools.
