Offering our Thanks Be To God
The phrase, Thanks Be To God, sits in our souls and rises to our lips as a response. A response to things large and small, to human connections where we experience God’s presence, to sights, sounds, smells that attune us to the Glory of God’s creation, to events which startle us into mindfulness of who we really are.
We live and breathe in God’s awesome presence. We are loved, guided, cherished, embraced. In response we serve, learn, praise and love one another. In the “apparent absence”, we mourn, despair, gnash our teeth and call out in need as the psalmists; we also stand to grow and expand our knowing of just how God is with us.
In the past several years, during Sunday worship we have included a time for worshippers to share their experiences of their awareness of God acting in their lives. Over time we have come to many of you asking if you would consider sharing your experience. The ones who have shared often mention that the act of offering their story has deepened their faith; and those of us who listen in witness are similarly affected. Thanks Be To God!
Beginning now, rather than receiving invitations from members of the Worship and Music Ministry Team, we are turning to each and all of you who worship with us. As a community of faith we walk together. We all have experiences which become our stories, some glorious, some simple, some desperate, some breathtaking. From the beginning of language, through the ages, we have learned from the stories we hear. May your hearts feel generous with your stories. You will be our fellow companions, moving us along in our journey of faith in this community of faith.
When you feel ready to share, please let us know. Tell one of our pastors, any Elder or Deacon any member of Worship and Music Team. Leave a message, e-mail, tug on a sleeve. Our congregation will be well served and enriched by hearing your story of experiencing God’s presence in your life.
