CHRISTMAS PLAY THIS SUNDAY!
We won't have Sunday School classes this week due to the Christmas Play.

Please have your child gather in their Sunday School classrooms between 8:50 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. The first thing they need to do is put on their costumes. If you can stay to help them do this, that would be great. We will have teachers and parent volunteers on hand to help, also. Then, we will gather together and practice the songs once. We will also have holiday crafts and games to occupy the children before the play.  For the 9:00 a.m. worship service, the play will happen after the sermon, at about 9:45 a.m.

At the end of the 9:00 a.m. worship service, after the play, the children will be walked back downstairs and to their classrooms. They can take off costume pieces if desired. Then everyone will go to the Club 56 Lounge, where there will be a snack and a movie.  The play will happen again, at the beginning of the 11:15 a.m. worship service.

At about 11:35 a.m., the play will be over, and everyone should head down to their classrooms and take off and turn in all costume pieces. Volunteers will be on hand to assist in getting costumes back into labeled bins and returning kids to their parents.

NARRATOR PRACTICE
Parents of narrators, PLEASE help your child practice reading their part very slowly and clearly.  Practice makes a big difference at this age.  And being able to understand the narrators makes a big difference to the congregation, particularly the elderly, that morning.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR
A reminder that all kids are invited to join the WPC Children's Choir for a few weeks of practice, followed by a performance at the 7:00 p.m. service on Christmas Eve.  We will try and squeeze in some choir practice this Sunday, while the children are downstairs between runs of the Christmas Play. We encourage children to also practice at home.  The song is "Love Has Come" and should be fairly easy for all. To access the lyrics, click here: Lyrics

To access an audio recording of the song, see click here: Audio Recording

CLUB 56 CHRISTMAS PARTY
A reminder that our 5th and 6th graders have a Christmas gathering at 12:00 p.m. in the Lounge, following the play practice this Saturday.  Club 56 parents should have received a separate email about the party.  If you didn't, please let Stasha Lewis know at dr.stasha.lewis@gmail.com.

Blessings,
Hilary Lambert

I will be accessible via email and phone while I am on leave, please don't hesitate to reach out if needed. I'll still be sending weekly emails, and can help with things remotely as needed. Thank you again for your support of our growing family!

CHILDREN'S CHOIR
All kids are invited to join the WPC Children's Choir for a few weeks of practice, then a performance at the 7 p.m. service on Christmas Eve. When Hilary rings the tambourine for Sunday School, choir participants will go to the choir loft with Sabrina and Marian to practice, then will join their Sunday School classes at 10:30.

Finally, a note about my upcoming maternity leave...
As many of you know, Baby Girl Lambert is due to arrive sometime at the end of November or beginning of December. We're going in for a procedure next Wednesday, and she could come as early as then, so I am preparing that this could be my last week on the job for a while.

In preparation for my absence I have worked with Stasha Lewis, CM Committee Chair, and the CM Committee to plan ahead. All events on the CM calendar as well as Sunday School lessons have been prepared, and Stasha and the committee are stepping into greater leadership roles to carry out these plans while I am gone. That said, you might notice we need a few more hands to help at outings and events, and we are in need of Sunday School helpers during Advent (Dec. 2, 9, and 23) and for the block of classes that runs January 6- February 3. All that said, please know I will still be accessible by email and phone while I am gone, and though I might not respond right away, you can still reach me! I'll stay in close touch with Rebecca and Stasha, and am happy to be in contact as needed to help things go well while I'm away.

If everyone lends a hand in some small way, whether in setting up for an event, helping with Sunday School setup, or just checking in with Stasha and offering support every now and then, I think the next few months will run smoothly. I will miss being a part of all the Advent fun, but I am so thankful for everyone's help in making it possible for me to take some leave while we adjust to our growing family- and I look forward to jumping back into things when Lent begins!

Blessings,

2018-2019 Year:

In the spirit of "nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something", I have created an interests and talents survey for the coming year.

I invite you all to fill it out...there is no commitment attached, it is designed to inform me and the CM Committee who might be interested or willing to do certain small volunteer tasks through the year.  We will refer to it when planning things like the Halloween Party, Mardi Gras, and Sunday School as a place to start when looking for helpers.  And remember, I am not interested in a few people doing everything to support our youngest members…but if we each do something small, we make a big difference in their growing faith.

2018-2019 YEAR:
The school year might seem far away, but as we approach August I am thinking hard about our upcoming year in Children's Ministry.  To that end, I have two important things to share with you.  First, a copy of the CM Calendar for the upcoming year.  Second, in the spirit of "nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something" I have created an interests and talents survey for the coming year.

THIS WEEK:
We had a handful of third and fourth graders spend the week at Camp Tuttle enjoying fun, fellowship and growing in God's love. They learned about themselves and the Lord while playing in God's beautiful creation in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

For those who are at home and looking for something fun to do, it has been suggested that we create a database of easy summer boredom busters to share.  So, if you or your kids have a favorite summer activity that is easy to do, email me and tell me about it.  I'll post all the ideas in next week's email and on the church website...so next time you're faced with the groan "we don't know what to do!" you'll have a treasure trove of ideas!

Here is one of my favorite summer activities that James and I enjoy: ice cube painting!  Put some coloring in some water in an ice cube tray, add a popsicle stick and freeze.  Then paint to your hearts delight!
