Children's Christmas Program

We will begin practicing the songs for the Christmas Program during Sunday School in November. Please help your children (and all of us!) by practicing with them at home too.  The music and lyrics for the program are listed below. For each song, the children will sing the first verse (regular text) alone and the congregation will join in for the second verse (bolded text). Thank you!

Mary had a baby, my Lord

Mary had a baby, my Lord

Mary had a baby, Mary had a baby,

Mary had a baby, my Lord.

What did she name him, my Lord?

What did she name him, my Lord?

What did she name him, what did she name him,

What did she name him, my Lord?

She named him King Jesus, my Lord.

She named him King Jesus, my Lord.

She named him King Jesus, she named him King Jesus, She named him King Jesus, my Lord.

Hark the herald angels sing

"Glory to the newborn King!

Peace on earth and mercy mild

God and sinners reconciled"

Joyful, all ye nations rise

Join the triumph of the skies

With the angelic host proclaim:

"Christ is born in Bethlehem"

Hark! The herald angels sing

"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!

Hail the Son of Righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings

Risen with healing in His wings

Mild He lays His glory by

Born that man no more may die

Born to raise the sons of earth

Born to give them second birth

Hark! The herald angels sing

"Glory to the newborn King!"

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay

Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,

And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.

We three kings of Orient are

Bearing gifts we traverse afar

Field and fountain, moor and mountain

Following yonder star

Oh star of wonder, star of night,

Star with royal beauty bright

Westward leading, still proceeding,

Guide us to thy perfect light

Glorious now behold him arise,

King and God and Sacrifice

Alleluia, alleluia!

Sounds through the earth and skies

Oh star of wonder, star of night,

Star with royal beauty bright

Westward leading, still proceeding

Guide us to thy perfect light

Joy to the world! The Lord is come

Let earth receive her King!

Let every heart prepare Him room

And heaven and nature sing

And heaven and nature sing

And heaven, and heaven and nature sing

Joy to the world! the Savior reigns

Let men their songs employ

While fields and floods

Rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy

Repeat the sounding joy

Repeat, repeat the sound joy
