The seasons are changing… cooler temperatures, changing leaves, shortening of daylight.  I can feel the leaves will soon be in piles on the ground.  May we feel the vigor to prepare for a new season while retaining the warmth in our hearts that will sustain us.

WOMEN, WATER + WINE

GET YOUR FLU SHOT, STAY HEALTHY

There will be a Flu Shot Clinic SUNDAY in the Gym from 12:15 - 2:15 p.m.  Community Nursing Service will have shots for children, adults and seniors.  If you have insurance, please bring your insurance cards.

CONFIRMATION INTEREST PARENT & STUDENT MEETING

Do you have an 8th grader (or older) who is interested in learning more about our faith, Presbyterian tradition, and what it means to be a Christian?  Perhaps you want this intentional time and space for them to learn and talk through questions of faith?  Please come to the interest meeting this SUNDAY at 12:30 p.m. to find out if confirmation classes are right for your student.

  • Maccabees I and II:  Room 355 - These are part of the Apocrypha, those mysterious books missing from our King James & later Protestant Bibles but familiar to our Catholic and Orthodox friends.  They are a historical account of political, military, and diplomatic events from the time of Judaea’s relationship with Antiochus IV Epiphanies of Syria (reigned 175–164/163bc).  If you have ever wondered what the Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah is about, you can learn it now!

  • Meditation class:  Room 116 - A class on “Manifesting God within and around through prayer, meditation, sacred readings and mindfulness.”

Beginning next week:  Pastor Scott Dalgarno will share with us various theological questions and topics of interest that have piqued him during his Sabbatical.

NURSERY CAREGIVERS

We provide care for children from birth to 5 years old in the church nursery every Sunday morning from about 8:45 a.m. - Noon as well as during holiday services.  We are in need of another nursery caregiver.  If you have prior childcare experience and are interested in applying for the position, please contact Stasha Lewis at slewis@wpcslc.org.  Also, if you are looking for a volunteer opportunity and would like to volunteer sometime in the nursery, please let Stasha know.

FALL PORTRAITS FUNDRAISER

Please support our children and youth ministries by getting your photos taken!  Whether family, couple, or you and your beloved pet, experienced photographer, Brad Leinberger, will capture beautiful moments for just $70.  Digital copies will be provided so you can print as many as you would like.  These make great Christmas card photos.  Dates available are either Saturday, October 26 or Sunday, November 3.  To sign up for your 20 minute session click here.

LIBRARY BOOK SALE & OPEN HOUSE COMING UP

Join us Sunday, November 3 for our Annual Book Sale.  Fall’s a good time to clear your book shelves.  If you have books you’d like to donate, feel free to leave them in the library with a note so we’ll know who to thank.  Books of any type welcome, novels, mysteries, history, biography, etc.  Children’s books sell particularly well.  Any questions contact Beth Phillips at bethphillips416@gmail.com.

CLUB 56 & YOUTH SPOOK ALLEY SET UP

All 5th and 6th graders and Youth interested in setting up the Spook Alley for our Halloween Party are welcome to join in the fun on Saturday, October 26 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Oh, and there will be pizza!

FAMILIES’ HALLOWEEN PARTY

Dress up in your favorite costume, and come for games, soup, and spook alley on Sunday, October 27 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

YOUTH OF UTAH PRESBYTERY FALL RETREAT
