November 16, 2018

Here we are the weekend before Thanksgiving.  May you see the gratitude in your life and welcome family, friends and/or strangers wherever this week places you.

Scott wrote an op-ed piece for The Tribune this past week titled, Commemorate The Great War by welcoming strangers.  If you missed it and would like to read it, click on the following link

Anyone seeking to share Thanksgiving with their church family is invited to join in a potluck meal on Thanksgiving Day at Wasatch from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Roasted turkeys will be provided, guests are asked to bring sides and dessert, help with dishes and clean-up after dinner.  Guests are also invited to bring any favorite games to enjoy with others following the meal.  To RSVP, please sign up during Coffee Hour, call the office at (801) 487-7576 or email

Join us for discussion of Uprooted by Naomi Novik, as well as wine and appetizers tomorrow evening (11/17).  We’ll gather at Dawn’s home at 7:00 p.m.  Contact Dawn at for more information.

All kids are invited to join the WPC Children's Choir for a few weeks of practice, and then participate in a performance at the 7:00 p.m. service on Christmas Eve.  Thank you to Sabrina Cole and Marian Florence for leading this effort!  When Hilary rings the tambourine for Sunday School this week, choir participants will go to the choir loft with Sabrina and Marian to practice, then will join their Sunday School classes at 10:30.

Are you new to Wasatch and have questions about how things at the church work?  Join us to answer these questions and more at the last class of this series, SUNDAY (11/18) from 10:10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in room 116 downstairs.  Please email Doug Howe for more information

Join us Sunday (11/18) for Get Air Trampoline Park and the progressive fast food dinner.  Meet at church at 3:30 p.m. and get picked-up at 7:30pm.  Bring $17.

You may know Mark Huff as an Usher on Sunday mornings, but he is also WPC's resident bird guru.  Join Mark and other CM families for a private guided tour of the Aviary this Sunday (11/18), 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  He even has some peacock feathers to share!  Please RSVP to Hilary if you plan on joining us,

Jan Bartlett is having his class entitled “New Ways to Read the Bible” this Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in room 355.  Please arrive on time and everyone is welcome!

All ages are welcome to join us in kicking off the Advent Season at our annual Advent Festival on December 2nd, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  We’ll share a soup supper and enjoy a variety of activities, including a carol sing-a-long, Advent crafts, handbells, live nativity animals and the Youth Bake Sale.  Please sign up in Fellowship Hall during coffee hour to bring soup and/or help clean up.

Our next hosting week is December 2nd - 9th.  Wasatch supports these families as they work to break out of the homelessness cycle and get back on their feet.  You can make a meal, act as a host, or even spend the night.  No experience necessary!  Sign up online at or after worship in Fellowship Hall.

We will be participating in this event in conjunction with the Utah Foster Care Foundation, to buy gifts for children of all sizes and ages who are in foster care.  Please take an ornament with a child's name and requested gifts, buy the item(s) and place them under the tree.  All gifts will be picked up and distributed in time for Christmas to go to children who cannot be in their homes and are in foster care for the holidays.  All gifts should be in by December 10.  Gift cards for emergencies are always welcomed, and can be donated after the 10th.

Do you know of any holiday events that the Wasatch community would be interested in?  If so, please send an email to and it can be posted on the Community Happenings page on the Wasatch website.  Please note that these announcements should be community focused.
