July 5, 2019

We had such a wonderful time at the July 3rd BBQ and hope you did too!  Hopefully everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th, celebrating the freedoms that we have.  May we feel grateful and engage with our community to support freedom and liberty for all.

Buildings and Grounds invites anyone interested in joining us on July 9 for our monthly project session.  We meet in the library and do projects from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.  It ends with your favorite pizza for lunch.  Among this month’s projects are refinishing outdoor light fixtures and repairing the sprinkler system.  All materials and supplies will be provided.  The only qualifications are a willingness to be part of a team and a favorite pizza.

Join us on July 11 at 12:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for stitching and chatting.  All levels of experience and crafting are welcome!

Save the date for August 25 where youth will lead all aspects of the Worship service and share thoughts and reflections of their summer service opportunities.

Our next hosting opportunity is coming up July 28 - August 4.  We have the blessing to help some families who may not be having a good year.  To sign up online, click here.  You can also sign up in person during coffee hour on July 14 or 21.

Our annual Rummage Sale Fundraiser for the Sudanese Fellowship is coming up on July 13 & 14 from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  We are in need of good quality items.  The most needed items are: housewares, children's games and toys, linens, household decor, sporting goods, jewelry, and holiday decorations.  Books and clothes will also be sold.  In addition, we will be having a boutique of handcrafted items.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept large furniture.  Small furniture and lamps are fine.  You may bring your donations to the church on Sundays or during weekday summer office hours from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  We ask that you take your items to the designated Sunday School rooms and place them on the correct table.  If you need a special time for drop off, please contact Jane.  We need help setting up in the evening on July 11 and during the day on July 12.  Also, volunteers are needed during the sale to monitor, answer questions.

If you have children birth-6th grade, PLEASE take a few moments to answer some survey questions about Children's Ministry, to help Hilary plan for the upcoming year.  You can access the survey here, or email hlambert@wpcslc.org for a copy.  Thanks!

Bring your dirty cars to our parking lot on Saturday, July 13 between 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for the youth to wash!  We are asking for donations to fund our summer rafting trip (suggested donation of $10 or more).

Youth - please wear your GOOD HUMAN t-shirt if you have one and come ready to wash cars!  Arrive at 10:00 a.m.

We had such great feedback on our "Good Human" youth service trip t-shirts that we have decided to sell them to the entire congregation!  T-shirts may be purchased for $20 at the Saturday, July 13 car wash or before or after worship on Sunday, July 14.

It happens to everyone, you’re enjoying the postlude and soaking in the energy of worship when you leave behind your cell phone, a notebook, bracelet or favorite travel mug.  We keep lost items on the main level, by the reception desk.  Items of value (cell phones and jewelry) are kept safe and need a staff member’s help to access.  If you have misplaced something, chances are, it’s in the church lost and found, and if you find something bring it to the front desk.

Stay connected over the summer with WPC Children's Ministry!  Our theme for Camp Wasatch was Celebrating God's Creation, and whether or not you were part of Camp Wasatch, you can share your summer celebrations in God's Creation with CM!  I have photo cards in the Fellowship Hall for everyone to take with you on your summer adventures and take photos with them.  Send them to me or post them with #anillustratedearth so we can stay connected all summer long!

After much sleuthing, we have been unable to determine ownership of a number of small glass tea sets in storage here at Wasatch.  Congregational Life has voted to offer them to the congregation and the remaining sets will be donated.  A table will be setup in Fellowship Hall with the sets displayed.  Please take what you would like and if you desire to make a donation, please label it in an envelope and place it in the red lock box on the main level in the workroom.

Join us each Sunday during the Summer from 9:00 -10:00 a.m., in room 116 for a class on “Manifesting God within and around through prayer, meditation, sacred readings and mindfulness.”

Each Sunday throughout the summer, anyone who wishes to sing in the choir for that Sunday's service is invited to come to the choir room for a short rehearsal at 9:30 a.m. to learn the anthem for the day.  The music is straightforward and fun!  Please consider joining the summer choir when you can.
