January 4, 2019

Welcome 2019!  It’s a time of new beginnings: a new year, students and teachers returning to school after a lengthy break, possibly new resolutions, and it’s also Epiphany Sunday.  Looking forward to the mystery of this new year and a new star!

WASATCH PRESCHOOL

In-House Enrollment for next school year began on January 1st.  Go to www.wasatchpreschool.org to apply or contact Christy (Preschool Director) at christylawlor@wpcslc.org.

SUNDAY SCHOOL & ADULT EDUCATION

All Children and Youth are invited back to Sunday School this Sunday from 10:10-11:00 a.m.  Children will be signaled during Coffee Hour and Youth are invited to go up to the Loft.  Both Adult Ed. classes will start meeting again as well.  Welcome back!

ADULT EDUCATION WEEKDAY CLASS

Come join us to explore New Ways To Read The Bible, starting again Monday night, January 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in RM 355.  We’ll be focusing on Jesus and first century life, the gospel of John, and the differences between fundamentalism and progressive Christianity.  How we think about God, Jesus and the Bible matters greatly.  As the Ringling Brothers said, “Come to be amazed!”

MORTGAGE UPDATE

Congratulations are in order to the friends and members of Wasatch Presbyterian Church.  Through diligence and effort we retired our building remodel mortgage in December 2018.  This is a monumental task.  On behalf of the Budget and Finance committee we would like to thank everyone in our congregation, past and present, for the commitment and sacrifice in achieving our goal.  Thank You!

BOX TOPS COLLECTION

Please save your box tops and put them in the PW box upstairs or in the clear box in the church office.  Look for the logo printed on all kinds of grocery items.  They’ll go to a Presbyterian school for boys called the Goodland Academy in Hugo, Oklahoma.  This collection runs all year long.

YOUTH LOCK-IN

Meet at the church on Saturday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m. for games, pizza, snacks, movies and more!

FAMILY SLEDDING

Join us for a sledding adventure on January 13th.  More details to come!

YOUTH CONFIRMATION CLASS

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

Our recently upgraded sanctuary organ will be featured in the annual Bagby Memorial Concert on Monday, January 28th at 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Kenneth Udy will perform as organ soloist with the Young Artist Chamber Players, a string orchestra of high school honor students under the baton of Jack Ashton, in the Western U.S. premiere of the Organ Concerto in A Minor by French-Canadian composer, Denis Bédard.  The brilliant five-movement work showcases the new effects and sounds now available on our organ.  Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend this special event.
