August 2, 2019

We are in the middle of summer and maybe you’re starting to feel anxious that our summer days are becoming limited.  Let’s all take a depth breath and embrace the moment and place we’re in.  Ignore the back-to-school ads and the Halloween costumes at Costco.  Be present and fully experience your day and this weekend.  Our spirits don’t need rushed through our summer, there’s still plenty of time for making memories and spending time with loved ones.

All are invited on August 14 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center Outdoor Pool (7500 S. 2700 E.)  Please bring food to share (hot dogs etc. are available at the snack stand) and join us for a swim and summer dinner.  Look for our Wasatch group on the grass in the shade behind the diving platforms (the back corner from the entrance).  Come and go as you wish - this is a completely low key, fun time to just be together.  All ages welcome!  Rates: Under 3 - Free; 3-17 - $4.50; 18 and older - $5.50.  For additional information, contact Luana Uluave at

To prepare for the upcoming transition to an interim CM Director while a search is conducted for Hilary’s replacement, the CM committee will meet to discuss plans for Sunday School, fellowship & service events for the beginning of the program year.  We value your input and need your help!  We will meet on Tuesday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library, and invite you to attend.  Please RSVP to

The Personnel Committee will soon initiate the search process for a new Children’s Ministry Director.  To support the ministry during the search process, we are seeking individuals within the congregation who might be interested in serving as the Interim Children’s Ministry Director(s).  If/as needed or desired, the position could be shared by more than one individual.  The key areas of focus would be communications and scheduling, Sunday School management (curriculum and teachers provided), and leadership at fellowship and service activities.  Expected commitment would be 10-20 hours/week for at least 2-3 months.  Anyone interested is invited to contact John Horel, Personnel Chair at, or Rebecca Sandulli at

Eighteen participants are off for a time of team building, bonding, and adventure on the Colorado River this week.  This inclusive rafting trip through the National Ability Center will provide opportunities for youth to draw closer to each other as a group along with intentional times of devotional reflections, songs, and prayer.

Join in the chatting Thursday, August 8 at 12:30 in Fellowship Hall.  Bring any craft you would like to work on.  For information contact Mary Beth.  Courtney is an expert with a crochet hook and Mary Beth can get you started knitting.  All are welcome!

Come join if you are thirsty; hungry is ok too!  All are invited; friends are welcome.  Red Butte Café (1414 Foothill Dr.) Friday, August, 9 at 5:00 PM.  If you can’t make it this month, no worries, we’ll be meeting the 2nd Friday of each month, so watch the announcements.  Questions?  Feel free to contact Bee Losee or Susie Brass.

Foster parents continually ask for socks and underwear for the 2,700 Utah children living in foster care.  For the last few years, Wasatch has been participating in this significant and important program and will again be collecting child-sized socks and underwear for kids in foster care.  All sizes of socks and underwear for both girls and boys are needed, from diapers to adult sizes for teenagers.  Collection dates are August 10 - August 24.  Bins will be in Fellowship Hall and the main entrance for your convenience.  The Utah Foster Care Foundation and Grandfamilies will distribute your donations to the children and youth who need them.  Thank you so much for making such a wonderful difference in a child’s life, especially as they begin a new school year.

Join us each Sunday during the Summer from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., in room 116 for a class on “Manifesting God within and around through prayer, meditation, sacred readings and mindfulness.”

Anyone who wishes to sing in the choir for that Sunday's service is invited to come to the choir room for a short rehearsal at 9:30 a.m. to learn the anthem for the day.  The music is straightforward and fun!
