August 17, 2018

We look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday (8/19) for a Youth lead Worship Service.  We’ll have the pleasure of hearing their reflections from their recent urban service trip and river rafting trip. Can’t wait to hear what impact they had on Denver and how they grew from their experience!

We've had a change to the soup kitchen schedule and are now in need of volunteers to help with the August sandwich making and serving next week (8/21-8/22).  All ages are invited to join us at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the gym to make sandwiches.  And ages 12+ are invited to join us at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall (437 W 200 S) to help serve.  To help with planning, please RSVP to Rebecca at

The bad news - we urgently need to replace our wonderful Bill White as Chair of the Buildings & Grounds Committee.  Bill has moved from his nearby residence, and can no longer attend to the duties of Chair.  The good news – the WPC campus is in excellent condition, and small but talented custodial staff and B&G Committee are in place.  Please contact Rev. Dalgarno if you have any interest. Your church needs you now!

We are two weeks away from the Labor Day Retreat!  It is shaping up to be a grand time in the mountains, including the addition of Soul Collage, new games and Camp Tuttle t-shirts for tie-dyeing, designed by our very own Brian Cole.  We need to finalize plans, so please RSVP and submit payment by Sunday 8/26 at the latest.  Flyers and RSVP forms are available in Fellowship Hall, in the office and online.  Any questions, contact Rebecca at  New faces welcome and encouraged!

We’re collecting socks and underwear through the month of August.  Socks and underwear are the #1need requested from foster parents for the children in their care.  Donations can be left in Fellowship Hall or the Main Church entrance.  Thank you for supporting the children who need them!

In the spirit of "nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something",
Hilary invites you to fill out the 2018-2019 Interests and Talents SurveyThere is no commitment attached, it is designed to inform her and the CM Committee who might be interested or willing to do certain small volunteer tasks throughout the year.  We will refer to it when planning things like the Halloween Party, Mardi Gras and Sunday School.  And remember, I am not interested in a few people doing everything to support our youngest members… but if we each do something small, we make a big difference in their growing faith.

One of the special things about Wasatch is how much our congregation enjoys the company of one another.  After service, Coffee Hour is filled with food, coffee and lots of great conversation. Help support this fellowship by donating refreshments.  Sign-up on the clipboard in Fellowship Hall and bring your donation 15 minutes before service, Congregational Life will do the rest.  If you have any questions, contact Courtney Raines at

We will be discussing the book, I Capture the Castle, by Dodie Smith.  This month, we will meet at Shannon Baker's home at 7p.m., Friday, August 24th.  Bring wine or an appetizer to share. Contact Dawn at for more info.

A reminder that September 9th is Rally Day, when we return to two worship services (one at 9 a.m. and one at 11:15 a.m.) and kick off the program year.  Join us in Fellowship Hall after each worship service for food, fellowship and the chance to learn more about all the wonderful things that happen in the life of Wasatch.

Our next hosting week is September 16th - 23rd.  Wasatch hosts 4 families for a week, 4 times each year.  We support these families as they work to break out of the homelessness cycle and get back on their feet.  Please sign up to fill one of the 50 volunteer slots necessary to make the week a success.  You can make a meal, act as a host, or even spend the night.  No experience necessary!  Sign up online or after service in Fellowship Hall.
