Join us this Advent Season

Advent Theme: A Higher Calling, a Greater Grace

The Season of Advent is almost here.  For the first time in a number of years we will be using the traditional four-word formula as our advent anchor:  Hope, Joy, Peace, Love, but in an order that fits the advent texts from this year’s lectionary.

I’m quite excited about these texts because they all challenge us to step-up –  step up in ways that we want to step up.  We, all of us, want to be hopeful, and honorable.  We want the best for ourselves, and one another, and the world. And we want to be able to stand at our full height, and we want that for our children too.  That’s what these texts call us to and the season will be hope-filled for sure.

Dec. 2 Advent 1     Hope, not Fear                          Luke 21:25-36      HOPE

Dec. 9 Advent 2    Straight Ways, not Crooked      Luke 3:1-6            PEACE

Dec. 16 Advent 3     Great News, not Good News      Luke 3:7-18          LOVE

Dec. 23 Advent 4    Songs of Joy, not Submissive Silence      Luke 1: 39-55       JOY
