Scott Delgarno – Pastor/Head of Staff

Scott Delgarno - Interim Pastor

Scott Dalgarno, our pastor and head of staff, has served four Oregon churches before coming to Salt Lake. His last position was at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portland. That said, he says he has never been as proud to work with a staff as today at Wasatch. He says, "This church is so professional and so loving -- it offers great music, imaginative worship, great education for all ages, and is a wonderful extended family."

Scott has won two national awards for his preaching and says he strives to have "every one of my sermons be Biblically sound, immensely literate, relevant to the issues of the day, and exceptionally engaging." His avocation is writing. He has published a number of pieces in the Salt Lake Tribune in his first year as our pastor. Christian Century published his essay, House Calls: A Vanishing Form of Ministry, that shows his devotion to pastoral care. He has published several articles in Presbyterians Today, Christian Century, and Presbyterian Outlook and several poems in a variety of journals including the Yale Review and Antioch Review. Besides writing, Scott enjoys cooking, playing golf and basketball.

Raised in Northern California, he majored in English at Whitworth College. He received a master’s degree in English and Film Studies from the University of Oregon, and completed his Master of Divinity at San Francisco Theological Seminary.
